Ken Rockwell - D800 Lens Mania: What's Old Is New Again

The more impressionable are all wigged-out over the extra resolution of the Nikon D800, as if it's going to change anything.

Nope. The D800 isn't even double the linear resolution of the old and crummy D700 and D3S we're all been using, and the same as the D7000. No big deal - unless you're Nikon or a store trying to sell a lot of new lenses to the innocent... more

Nikon Cheapskate Lenses  -  for Nikon D800

The photo world changes fast. What used to be Nikon's, and the world's, very best lenses have all but been forgotten today. These older lenses just happen to work great on most Nikon digital cameras, and they work especially well on Nikon's full-frame FX D800, D800E, D700, D3X and D3... more

Vše o formátu RAW

Vše o formátu RAW Roman Pihan

Vše o formátu RAW – 1.díl

Řada fotoaparátů dnes nabízí možnost snímat do nějaké obdoby formátu RAW.

Vše o formátu RAW – 2.díl V minulém díle jsme popsali základní vlastnosti formátu RAW a vysvětlili princip Bayerovy masky a Bayerovy interpolace.

Nyní budeme v popisech rozdílů pokračovat a to veledůležitými úpravami jasu a kontrastu a přidáme i praktické ukázky

Vše o formátu RAW – 5.díl

V minulých dílech jsme popsali možnosti RAW formátu co se týče Bayerovy interpolace, vyvážení bílé, bitové hloubky, expoziční kompenzace a opravy expozice.

“Photography is like life… What does it all mean? I don’t know – but you get an impression, a feeling…. An impression of walking through the street, walking through the park, walking through life. I’m very suspicious of people who say they know what it means.” - Leonard Freed

The Photographic Paradox

Roland Barthes and his concept of the photographic image as a message without a code

“What the photograph reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially.” Roland Barthes

From this arises the so-called “photographic paradox” that Roland Barthes speaks of. It is the coexistence of two messages, one without a code and therefore without connotation and another one with code and connotation.
